HDTV Deadline Now Set for Feb of 2009.
As of this date all programming will be broadcast in High
Definition Digital. There will be no more analog television broadcast
(VHF). At that point you must have an HDTV Integrated (off air HD
tuner built in) TV for off the air reception, or a converter box
to convert the HD signal back to analog. If you are on cable or
satellite, you need to upgrade to their HD receiver, and you don't
need an HDTV integrated TV, just an HDTV Monitor.
The HD signal is broadcast over the UHF band.
Therefore all you will need is a UHF antenna suited for your location
and proximity to the transmitters.
