| Erret Lobban Cord came to
the Auburn Automobile Company in 1924 and found hundreds of unsold cars in the
company parking lot. After becoming the general manager of the company that year
Cord added some nickel plating and new paint to those unsold cars and the lot
began to empty. With a vision of stylish yet affordable cars Cord began to build
some of the most beautiful automobiles to ever grace the road. The 1935 Auburn
851 was the culmination of those efforts. This handsome vehicle sported
‘pontoon’ fenders a reworked front end newly styled hood and grille teardrop
headlamps and chrome exhaust pipes. The masculine look of the 851 was enhanced
by the low close-fit convertible top and narrow windshield. Although the company
would cease production the following year the 1935 Auburn 851 left its mark as
one of the most exquisite automobiles ever produced.

introduction of the 1931 Model A Deluxe Pickup this model is still the favorite
of hot rodders and customizers. Car lovers everywhere still admire the efficient

1930 Pierce-Arrow Model B The Design of the Pierce Arrow
MSRP $14.98
Motormint Price $10.00 |
| Founded in 1901 by former
birdcage builder George N. Pierce the Pierce Motor Company of Buffalo NY was
first known for producing some of the most elegant massive and reliable
automobiles ever built. The company then became a pioneer in the use of aluminum
to build automobiles as well as in the development of power brakes. Perhaps the
most famous Pierce-Arrow feature is the fender-mounted headlamp introduced in
1913. The 1930 Model B had all the luxurious detail and reliability of its
predecessors. The sporty two-door Convertible Coupe version was particularly
attractive with wire spoke wheels chrome accents a functioning rumble seat and
the signature Pierce-Arrow hood ornament. Unfortunately for Pierce-Arrow
enthusiasts the company would struggle after the Great Depression and was
eventually sold. Nonetheless there is no debating the stamp of excellence and
innovation firmly planted on the American automobile industry by the legendary
Pierce-Arrow.
